Job description

Oxford International Junior Programmes offers a range of summertime ESL programmes at carefully chosen centres in the UK, Canada, and the US. Our programmes aim to create a study experience of educational value, of cultural interest, and, of course, full of fun and memories to take home.

Our Boca Raton summer program is based at Florida Atlantic University*, where students receive a combination of 15 hours English language tuition per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. The activity programme will include daytime and evening activities as well as half-day and full-day excursions to attractions and places of cultural interest.

We are currently looking for staff for contracts of various length from end-of-June to end-of July 2026 (programme dates are June 26 – July 30, 2026). A limited number of residential positions are available. Full board accommodation included in residential position employment packages available.

The Role

The Centre Manager (CM) is the most senior post at the centre, where you will be in charge of all aspects of the day-to-day management: from ensuring staff and student welfare, managing finances, quality control, staffing and accommodation to dealing with clients and liaising with Florida Atlantic University staff. This is a role with a very demanding workload, and our preference is for the Centre Manager to live on campus at Florida Atlantic University. Room and board at Florida Atlantic University is included as part of the salary for this role.

In this role, you will work with a team of staff to ensure successful operations in all areas of the program, including academics, on-site and off-site activities, transportation, residence, homestay, and student welfare. While each staff member is responsible for a particular area of the program, the Centre Manager is responsible for troubleshooting and oversight in all areas. The Centre Manager takes care of 2-3 full-time direct reports and up to 10 indirect reports (mainly teachers and activity leaders).

Most students will arrive in Boca Raton in a group with a chaperone (Group Leader) and the Centre Manager is the key point of contact for these Group Leaders. The CM shares important information about schedules and centre guidelines with the Group Leaders, as well as helping to manage any concerns that arise. The Centre Manager helps to manage any student behavior concerns. The Centre Manager is also in charge of finances for their centre, ensuring that all expenses are within budget and receive appropriate approvals.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for students while leading and motivating staff effectively.
  • Oversee daily operations, including staff briefings, performance management, appraisals, and emergency response.
  • Ensure high standards of student welfare, discipline, safety, and accommodation management.
  • Maintain strong communication and professional relationships with staff, clients, group leaders, and Florida Atlantic University staff.
  • Manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and respond promptly to requests and feedback.
  • Lead academic operations, including placement testing, class scheduling, student placement, and syllabus delivery.
  • Provide guidance and support to the teaching team, group leaders, and students on academic matters.
  • Coordinate teacher and student inductions, classroom assignments, observations, and professional feedback.
  • Monitor teacher attendance, manage payroll and on-call coverage, and teach classes when required.
  • Oversee graduation ceremonies, student certification, academic administration, and course documentation.
  • Ensure academic resources and classroom facilities are organized and sufficient for program delivery.

It would be great if you:

  • Have previous management experience in a language school,
