Description:

Come join the Surgical Services at Saint Mary's Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England! We are a member of the nationwide Trinity Health family, bringing compassionate care to our communities.

Position Purpose:

Under the supervision of a Certified Central Sterile Technician, provides a variety of sterilization processing functions, manual and automated decontamination procedures. Provides sterile instruments and clean equipment to the Operating Room, Gastroenterology, Women-Infant Center, Emergency Department and other departments as needed.

What you will do:

  • Provides technical support by decontaminating, processing, and reassembling instruments for sterilization. Safely operate all steam, Sterrad and E+O Sterilizers, utilize cart washer and washer-decontaminators.

  • Support the Operating Room by completing case carts efficient and according to individual needs. Filling stock list requests and communicate the need for reordering supplies appropriately.

  • Supports hospital safety initiatives by using supplies and equipment appropriately, maintains approved infection control policies and standards, and handles chemicals and other potentially hazardous substances appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Certification: Central Sterile Processing Technician or Graduate of a program that qualifies the candidate to sit and pass the exam within six months from date of hire.
