Job Title: Central Sterile Tech
Location: New York, NY
Duration: 14-Week Contract (Possible Extension)
Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Includes a 30-minute unpaid break)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week
Compensation
- Local Pay: $1,237.50 Weekly
- Travel Pay: $1,520.00 Weekly
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Central Sterile Tech to join a leading healthcare facility in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment while maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention and patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Assemble instrument trays and procedure sets according to established standards.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation.
- Ensure proper storage and distribution of sterile supplies throughout the facility.
- Adhere to infection control policies, safety guidelines, and departmental procedures.
- Collaborate with surgical and clinical staff to support patient care needs.
- Identify and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Certifications
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
- CRCST certification from HSPA required.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) experience required.
Additional Requirements
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control practices, and medical instrumentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
