Position Summary:
The Centerless OD/ID Grinder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining grinding machines to produce high-precision components. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications to grind components to precise tolerances using centerless grind machines. The grinder ensures that the quality of part meets industry standards by performing in-process inspections and making necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up, programs, and operates CNC Grinder (Cinternal) machine to grind cylindrical, tapered, and spherical surfaces.
- Read and interpret shop drawings to determine production specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, and part requirements.
- Set up and adjust centerless OD/ID grinding machines for optimal performance.
- Load and unload machines efficiently while maintaining continuous operation.
- Dress grinding wheels to meet specified requirements.
- Align parts, start machines, and monitor operations to ensure precision and quality.
- Verify size dimensions using precision measuring instruments and make necessary adjustments.
- Perform O.D. finishing by modifying diamond, grind position, and feed rate as needed.
- Inspect components for roundness, chatter, finish, taper, and size accuracy to meet precise specifications.
- Operate machines daily to produce high-quality components efficiently while adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Follow all ISO guidelines and accurately complete required computer system functions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring machines and equipment are in proper condition.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production and operational goals.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
- Must be willing to work required overtime.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Able to read and interpret show drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations (plus decimals and fractions), use basic handheld measuring tools.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
All associates are required to wear protective eyewear, and slip resistant, steel-toed shoes at all times while on the plant floor.
