Centerless CNC Grinding Machinist (Setup & Operation)

Step into Precision: A Day in This Role

At 5:00 AM, you power up a centerless CNC grinder in a clean, modern shop in Maple Grove, MN. The first job ticket is waiting—prints, specs, and tolerances that demand your focus. You dial in the machine, confirm tooling, verify your program edits, and run first-off parts. Throughout the day, you monitor feeds and speeds, measure with micrometers and gauges, record results, and make tight adjustments to keep every component in spec. Setup tasks are part of your week, but most of your time is dedicated to expert machine operation—steady, efficient, accurate.

What You’ll Handle

• Operate and set up CNC centerless grinders and related grinding machinery
• Run production efficiently; adjust offsets and tooling to maintain quality and throughput
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specs (GD&T)
• Edit/modify CNC programs to meet part requirements
• Perform tooling changes, setups, and fixture adjustments
• Inspect components using micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and setup documentation
• Troubleshoot machining issues; recommend and implement process improvements
• Follow safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures; keep the work area clean and organized

What You’ll Bring

• 2+ years of CNC grinding experience in manufacturing preferred; centerless strongly preferred
• CNC setup background from other machining areas welcomed—great path to transition into grinding
• Fluent in blueprint reading and GD&T; strong mechanical aptitude
• Comfort using precision measuring tools with confidence
• Problem-solving mindset; able to work independently and as part of a team
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Schedule & Pay

• Shift: 1st Shift
• Hours: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Overtime: Optional on Fridays, 5:00 AM – 10:00 AM
• Compensation: $24.00 – $32.00+ per hour (DOE). Experienced CNC OD grinders may be considered above the posted range.
