Position Details

Primary Function:

Center Directors supervise and facilitate the daily operations of Success VLC of Michigan center locations. Center Directors may also attend outside-of-school events, meet with parents, students, and/or extracurricular activities, which can extend their workweek beyond 40 hours.

Qualifications:

  • State of Michigan Secondary Education Teacher certification required (4/1/21).
  • Or Bachelor's/Master's degree with Administrative Michigan Certification (must be enrolled in an approved administrative certification program within one year of hire - completed within two years of hire).
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills.
  • Understand the use of technology in both instructional and operational settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills including the ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications.
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks with self-direction in a timely manner.
  • Alternative qualifications as the Executive Director may find acceptable.

Reports to: Regional Director

Term:

Contract will be for 220 days . This position reports to the center daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and nurture relationships with students, parents, board of education, administration, staff, community, etc.
  • Direct teammates to adhere to policy and procedures.
  • Collaborate with teammates statewide to maintain consistency with processes and procedures.
  • Work alongside Regional Director to oversee forecasting activities and set performance goals and standards for individual staff/center accordingly.
  • Coordinate with the Regional Director and SVLCoM Team to ensure the center is maintained at a high performance level at all times.
  • Inspire hope to students through mentoring and relationship building, as well as with family and staff so all feel a sense of belonging and value.
  • Maintain communications between staff members, students and parents to relay important dates, contact information, events and celebrations.
  • Ensure all staff are implementing support to students, as needed, to promote successful completion of their high school diploma.
  • To track and monitor student performance and other metrics as deemed necessary by working with Regional Director and Executive Director to target established goals.
  • To develop and maintain professional relationships with community partners, local schools, and other organizations for the purpose of identifying community needs and participating in relevant partnerships.
  • Identify onboarding and training needs of new staff as well as continued training for current staff.
  • Participate in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices.
  • Remain current with professional development opportunities and trends.
  • Participate in marketing of the school to the community, as deemed necessary, for enrollment.
  • Attend critical school meetings such as child-study team meetings, IEP meetings, 504 meetings, and any other meetings related to successfully supporting students.
  • Maintain center cleanliness and order.
  • Arrange authorized repairs of building and equipment through the central office.
  • Maintain a budget according to enrollment and approvals from the central office.
  • Evaluate staff performance through a midyear and final evaluation.
  • Execute monthly family engagement events within the center.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
