Summary
The Cement Mason is responsible for placing finishing protecting and repairing concrete surfaces on construction projects. This role requires physical endurance attention to detail and the ability to work safely in demanding outdoor and jobsite environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set forms pour spread and finish concrete using hand tools power tools and finishing equipment
Smooth level and finish concrete surfaces using trowels floats screeds and other tools
Apply curing or surface treatments to concrete
Patch repair and restore concrete surfaces as needed
Read and interpret drawings specifications and work orders
Measure mix and pour concrete or related materials accurately
Maintain tools equipment and work areas in a safe and clean condition
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Work collaboratively with crew members supervisors and other trades
Must wear proper attire at all times including PPE
May be required to work extended hours including evenings nights and weekends
Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have a minimum of 3 years previous work experience as a cement mason
Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
Must be able to determine the kind of tools and equipment need to do a job
High school diploma or GED desired
Must have a positive attitude and work ethic
Knowledge of concrete placement finishing techniques and materials
Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
Working Conditions
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday
Ability to bend stoop kneel reach squat and twist throughout the workday
This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and the constant use of hands and arms
This job requires the ability to see whether naturally or with vision correction tools e.g. glasses contact lenses
Performing strenuous work for extended periods in varying temperatures humidity wind and other inclement weather conditions
Work may be performed in environments with exposure to extremely hot materials fuel fumes vapors dust grease and oils as well as loud andor constant noise and moving equipment.
Note This position is considered Safety-Sensitive and therefore subject to various schedule and unscheduled screenings for controlled substances.
