DSL Express is actively hiring experienced Class A CDL Solo OTR Truck Drivers for our modernized fleet out of the San Antonio, TX Home Base. We specifically need strong drivers who live in the San Antonio area and surrounding regions. Our over the road routes are built to start and end right here in San Antonio. This allows us to service the freight lanes that flow through this important market while keeping our operations efficient in this key location and taking care of suppliers and manufacturers form around the metropolitan area who ship nationwide.
Typical Pay Highlights:
30% of line haul OR 65 cent by the mile + bonuses (the choice most solo drivers prefer)
Average weekly gross: $1,900 – $2,400 (with peaks hitting $2,700+ on legal hours)
Switch between miles pay and percent anytime
Full-time floor in 2025 was $104,130 — nobody who ran steady made less
Top performers cleared $145,000 last year
Pay Details & Realistic Expectations: Pay is strictly performance-based. Most drivers (87% in 2025) run on 30% percentage because it pays better in this market. Slow season (Q1) usually lands between $1,900–$2,100. Peak season (Q2 & Q4) runs $2,100–$2,400 with occasional $2,700 weeks. Average drivers who stay consistent still cleared $115,000–$125,000 in 2025.
Pay Options:
Percentage Pay (Best Option for Most Solos) - We pay up to 30% line haul plus bonuses. Drivers average 2,000–2,500 miles in slow season and up to 3,000 in busy season — intentionally lower miles because percentage pays more and saves fuel. You get better pay with less burnout and fewer missed appointments.
Miles Pay Option - Switch anytime. Up to 65 cents by the mile plus bonuses based on experience and record. Typical miles: 2,500–3,600 per week.
Team Pay (Miles Only) - Up to 75¢ per mile split. Average $2,000–$2,600 per driver per week. Note: Solo percentage is currently the stronger play in this market.

If you’re motivated, honest, hard-working, and professional, you’ll make great money here and we’ll treat you like family. If you want to sit at truck stops, miss stops, or coast, this isn’t the place for you. We are fair and we pay well, but nothing is free. This is real OTR work. You get what you put in.
