Purpose:

The Child Care Nurse Consultant (CCNC) Supervisor guides, mentors, and motivates a team of professionals to achieve high-performance standards and fosters a positive and collaborative work environment, while adhering to policies, procedures, and fidelity of the CCNC model and Iowa Health and Human Services (HHS).

Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical guidance to staff on child health, safety, and development issues.
  • Ensures fidelity to evidence-based nursing practices and Iowa HHS standards.
  • Reviews documentation for accuracy and compliance and provides timely feedback to staff as needed.
  • Monitors quality indicators and leads continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provides reflective supervision and regular performance evaluations. Coaches staff using evidence based frameworks (motivational interviewing, joint visits, etc.).
  • Develops corrective action plans and administers disciplinary action when needed.
  • Maintains staffing patterns and caseload balance.
  • Ensures daily operations run smoothly and in compliance with policies and regulatory guidelines (Iowa HHS).
  • Supports budget planning and grant development.
  • Represents the CCNC program in community coalitions and statewide initiatives.
  • Represents Everystep in program-specific meetings with Iowa HHS.
  • Leads outreach strategies to expand CCNC visibility and impact.
  • Provides consultation to childcare providers on health, safety, and developmental concerns.
  • Supports families using a family centered approach.
  • Works with Iowa HHS and participating community partners to ensure the completion of project goals.
  • Maintains a caseload.
  • Upholds professional nursing standards, ethical practices, confidentiality, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Leads team meetings, facilitates case conferences, and represents the team in community groups, coalitions, and agency activities.
  • Participates in recruitment and hiring of nursing and support staff.
  • Supports director and leadership with grant writing and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from accredited school of nursing required
  • Current and valid Iowa RN license
  • At least 2 years' experience providing CCNC services
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong critical thinking, independent judgment, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to accept and work effectively with diverse populations across cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds
  • Strong relationship development and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to physically carry out the various aspects of providing services in a client's home, school, or other environments
  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practices
  • Ability to plan, organize, and utilize teaching principles in working with families, clients, schools, and community organizations
  • Strong keyboarding and computer skills with the ability to learn work-related software; knowledge of Microsoft Office, database use and management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and compliance with regulations and organization policies and procedures
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification
  • Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult abuse training certification (within 30 days of hire)
  • Must have valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation if driving is required
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2-step TB test and background check

Working Conditions:

  • Physical requirements: Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

  • Travel: Required between locations
