Job Title: Category Manager I

Work Schedule:
Louisville KY 40202 OR Allentown, PA Hybrid (3 days onsite/2 days remote) (5 days per week) , from 8am - 5pm Eastern time

Duration: 12+ months contract (Possible extension)


About the Role:

  • This role is responsible for managing the supply chain for a broad range of corporate requirements and issuing contractual commitments up to $100 million annually.
  • The position focuses on procuring design-build services, construction services, engineered equipment, software, engineering services, commodities, and indirect services.
  • The role ensures procurement is executed based on total cost of ownership while meeting quality and schedule requirements.
  • This is an experienced, independent contributor role with minimal supervision, and may include guiding other team members on sourcing strategies and procurement activities.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies for complex, multi-million-dollar contracts in collaboration with the Office of General Counsel
  • Conduct contract negotiations to achieve optimal business outcomes while ensuring appropriate commercial protections
  • Perform market and financial analysis to assess supplier and contract risk; implement mitigation strategies as needed
  • Manage and resolve contract claims and disputes in consultation with senior leadership
  • Oversee the full supply chain lifecycle—from requirements definition through contract administration and closeout
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, pricing models, warranties, and performance requirements
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships aligned with ethical business practices
  • Support capital projects (software, SaaS, hardware, and services) by developing sourcing strategies and managing contract performance
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned categories, including market trends, supplier base, and emerging technologies
  • Act as the primary liaison for suppliers within assigned categories
  • Drive continuous improvement, cost savings, and supplier performance initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and project teams

Experience required:

  • At least 2 years of experience in logistics, materials, or services procurement
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and market dynamics
  • Basic understanding of business law, commercial terms, and contract structures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tracking changes and red lining
  • Redlining experience a requirement
  • Experience negotiating contracts (IT contracts will be helpful)
  • Able to understand negotiating language

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field OR equivalent experience (minimum 5 years)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or similar certification
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database tools
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
