Description

        • Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for parttime employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in supervising and training peer tutors and mentors in providing services for first-year, continuing, and transfer students

  • Work in collaboration with campus partners on events and programming to support student success

  • Assist with exam administration and proctoring

  • Coordinate, create, and/or deliver workshops (online and/or in-person) on student support topics related to veterans, transfer, and non-traditional students; may include researching needs, brainstorming topics, hosting Zoom sessions, drafting scripts, creating visuals and quizzes, recording and editing, and/or coordinating student employees and/or professional staff in these tasks.

  • Develop and/or make available resources to support transfer, veteran, and non-traditional students

  • Attend regular staff meetings

  • Attend professional development on topics relevant to higher education and student support

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in education, social sciences, human development business administration or related field.
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in academic success programs, student support services, instructional technology, instructional design, or student affairs as demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
