Position Summary
A cashier at Joe Patti’s Seafood Company is responsible for providing fast, accurate, and friendly customer service in a high-volume seafood market environment. The role combines payment processing, customer interaction, and maintaining an organized front-of-store area.
Key Responsibilities
- Process transactions
- Operate cash register, handle cash/credit/debit payments
- Accurately total purchases and give correct change
- Customer service
- Greet customers and answer basic questions about products
- Provide a friendly, efficient checkout experience
- Direct customers to departments (fish line, deli, etc.)
- Maintain front-end area
- Keep checkout stations clean, stocked, and organized
- Restock bags, receipt paper, and small items
- Assist with store operations
- Help manage lines during busy periods
- Coordinate with seafood counter staff for order pickup
- Follow policies
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Adhere to company procedures and cash-handling rules
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, especially during weekends and holidays
- Standing for long periods (often full shifts), able to lift ~50 LBs
- High customer traffic (tourist-heavy location)
