Our client, a retail chain of home improvement and agriculture stores, is seeking an Investor & Public Relations Specialist for a 3.5+ month contract position with the possibility of extensions in Brentwood, TN.  This role is hybrid, onsite 3-4 days per week.

Day to Day
The Investor & Public Relations Specialist supports the execution of company’s public relations and corporate communications initiatives while providing day-to-day support to the Director of Public Relations. This role will assist with media relations, executive communications, content development, campaign coordination, and community engagement initiatives that help promote and protect the company’s brand and reputation.

The position will initially focus on supporting a high-profile company initiative, Hometown Heroes, including coordination and distribution of customized communications materials and resources to stores nationwide. In addition to project execution responsibilities, the role will support ongoing public relations activities including drafting communications materials, supporting social and digital content development, media monitoring, and assisting with campaign execution.

This role is ideal for a highly organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented communications professional who is eager to grow within corporate public relations in a fast-paced environment. This temporary assignment offers the opportunity to transition into a permanent Public Relations Specialist role based on business needs and performance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Public Relations & Communications Support
  • Support the Director of Public Relations in the execution of corporate communications and public relations initiatives.
  • Draft first versions of press releases, media advisories, LinkedIn posts, internal communications, talking points, briefing materials, presentations, and other communications content for review.
  • Assist with development and coordination of executive visibility and thought leadership content across internal and external platforms.
  • Support media relations activities including media list management, monitoring coverage, tracking inquiries, and preparing reporting summaries.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of public relations campaigns, company announcements, community initiatives, and media events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Marketing, Store Operations, Community Relations, and Investor Relations to support integrated communications efforts.
  • Maintain communications calendars, project trackers, media databases, and digital filing systems.

Hometown Heroes Initiative Support
  • Coordinate execution support for the company’s Hometown Heroes initiative, including preparation and distribution of more than 2,400 customized store packets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate organization of store-specific materials, communications resources, and program information.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and vendors to support logistics, timelines, and successful initiative rollout.
  • Track project deliverables and proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure smooth execution.

Administrative & Department Support
  • Assist with scheduling, meeting coordination, vendor communication, and department operations support for the Public Relations team.
  • Coordinate invoices, expense submissions, shipping logistics, and project-related administrative activities.
  • Support organization and maintenance of communications assets, presentations, and department materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies within PR workflows and projects.

Experience
  • 2–4 years of experience in public relations, communications, corporate communications, marketing, journalism, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience supporting communications campaigns, content development, media relations, or project coordination preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

Pay Rate $31.03 - $35.71 per hour
