Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Inspect hospital buildings, facilities, and related structures to assess repair, maintenance, renovation, and alteration needs, providing recommendations to support a safe and functional environment.
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule carpentry projects and repair activities, including developing labor, material, cost, and time estimates to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of lumber, hardware, tools, and supplies by monitoring stock levels, obtaining pricing, coordinating with vendors, and requisitioning materials as needed.
  • Perform skilled carpentry work involving the construction, repair, installation, and maintenance of hospital structures, furnishings, equipment, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Execute structural repairs, alterations, and facility improvements, including replacing damaged components, repairing hardware, and maintaining the overall safety, appearance, and integrity of hospital properties.
  • Install and renovate building components such as partitions, suspended ceilings, cabinetry, flooring, nursing stations, patient rooms, kitchens, offices, and other hospital spaces.
  • Interpret, develop, and apply sketches, blueprints, layouts, and technical specifications to ensure projects are completed accurately and in accordance with requirements.
  • Supervise, assign, and review the work of carpenters, skilled laborers, and maintenance personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure quality workmanship and effective response to maintenance needs.
  • Assist in evaluating repair and renovation feasibility, provide direction during emergency situations, and support departmental operations through participation in on-call and stand-by maintenance coverage.

Required Qualifications:
