Carpenter Apprentice
Job Purpose
The Manufacturing Associate is responsible for executing the daily tasks assigned by the plant manager.
Essential Functions:
Corrugated:- Feed Corrugated machine
- Fold Inserts
- Package product
Wood:- Cut wood to length on saw per work orders
- Assemble skids and crates per work orders
General:- Move raw materials and finished product with hand trucks or forklift (see forklift note below)
- Stage raw materials for assembly
- Package finished goods for shipment
- Stock completed items in the appropriate place
- Complete and turn in paperwork including
- Actual quantity
- Time sheets
- Clean up work area (corrugated/wood/General Shop)
Other Responsibilities- Forklift operation (once certified)
- Cleanliness of work area
- Assist other work areas as required to complete production requirements
- Safety
- Safe operation of all equipment
- Safety of employees
- Eye & hearing protection
- Repairing and adjusting equipment
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- High school graduate (or equivalent).
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in operation and maintenance of wood cutting and/or assembly equipment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Able to perform skilled work of moderate difficulty. A high degree of initiative and creativity is required due to the complex nature of the situations/conditions of the position.
- Must have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to effectively solve problems, think clearly and positively in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
- Meets deadlines and fulfills commitments.
- Exhibits enthusiasm and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to communicate well with co-workers and customers.
- Exhibits care and strong attention to detail.
- Current forklift certification or ability to become certified
