Job Summary ------------

The caregiver provides in-home care to individuals who have difficulty performing basic day-to-day activities by assisting with personal care, administering medication, and providing companionship. The caregiver plans and follows a daily care schedule with clients, modifies care plans as prescribed by medical professionals, and reports on any new conditions or needs that may arise.

Responsibilities ----------------

  • Assists with personal care, which may include bathroom functions, bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
  • Follows a prescribed healthcare plan, which may include assisting with exercise and administering medication.
  • Ensures the clients home is organized according to their needs and that safety measures are in place.
  • May be expected to complete some light housework.
  • Provides emotional support and encouragement to perform necessary tasks.
  • Provides mobility assistance if required, for example, helping the client in and out of a bed, a chair, or a wheelchair.
  • Transports or escorts the client to medical and other appointments.
  • Monitors and reports changes in health behavior and needs.

Qualifications --------------

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred but not required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • When applicable, valid drivers license and access to an insured vehicle required.
