Position Location:This position will be located in Palmer, Alaska.
Job Overview:Responsible for providing career technical training (CTT) instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula. Work as part of a training team in coordinating CTT instruction, academic instruction, work-based learning and social development in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Provide students with CTT instruction in a designated area of instruction.
- Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, and/or study habits.
- Coordinate with other industry team members to resolve issues affecting student training.
- Develop and prepare lessons. Recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
- Participate in student performance evaluations. Prepare required documentation and evaluations.
- Administer and correct tests. Maintain progress and attendance reports.
- Control use of supplies, materials, and equipment. Recommend purchases.
- Assist in developing community linkages and partnerships.
- Access and training students to use computers and applicable software.
- Monitor student progress in the program by ensuring compliance with established Data Integrity guidelines. This includes the accurate and timely reporting of student progress and skill acquisition on Training Achievement Records (TARs), auditing of active and terminated TARs, other documentation sensitive to Data Integrity policies.
- Teach, model, and evaluate student employability skills.
- Develop and conduct enrichment program as assigned.
- Transport students for training purposes as needed
- Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
- Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
- Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform all other duties as requested.
Job Requirements:
Mandatory:
- Associate degree in medical related field.
- Three (3) years recent work experience in a medical field as a medical assistant and one (1) year teaching/training experience.
- Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.
- Current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred
State of Alaska teaching certificate or industry recognized certification.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily in an office setting.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
- Have a high level of social contact.
- They work closely with students and other office staff.
- Communicate with people daily by telephone, e-mail, and in person.
- Are occasionally placed in conflict situations in which others may become rude or unpleasant.
- Work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
