About the Position
This is a time limited position. This position is located in the Greenwood WIN Job Center and will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Workforce Training and Education Program - Career STEP. Will provide career counseling, job readiness training, tutoring, mentoring, and other necessary pre-employment skills for eligible participants. Conduct prospective participant interviews and determine program eligibility-complete participant enrollment. Approve intake forms, create participant files, and implement sign-in sheets. Refer participants to necessary testing based on assessments. Refer workforce participants to achievement tests/placement exams (ACT, NCRC). Provide career exploration and guide participants in career pathway decisions. Develop an Individualized Service Strategy that includes a career pathway for participants and updates regularly. Make appropriate referrals to mental health and other organizations. Coordinate with Smart Start academic and job readiness classroom training for eligible participants. Schedule and prepare participants for the NCRD. Schedule credit class speaking engagements for job coach curriculum (resume, mock interviews, cover letters, etc.) Any other duties as assigned. Must be available to work in a public center that provides in-person service to customers of various programs.
What youll need to be Successful
Good interpersonal/customer service skills, good verbal/written communication skills, time management, and organizational skills. Must possess outstanding computer skills, including proficiency with internet-based applications and email.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and two (2) years of experience in a directly related field. All applicants must have a valid driver's license and pass an extensive background check.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
