Overview:

The College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) Office of Student Services is seeking a highly motivated graduate assistant to support the Career Services unit beginning in August 2026. This position plays an active role in strengthening student engagement and enhancing career development support across COSAM. The graduate assistant will work directly with COSAM students, faculty, employers, and alumni.

 

A Graduate Assistant is provided with an educational experience aligned with or related to their program of study, whereby they apply the specific functional knowledge, skills, and abilities gained from their overall educational program. There may be duties other than teaching, research, or extension, and the following guidelines must be adhered to:

  • At least 60% of the student’s primary duties and responsibilities are directly related to their program of study.

  • No more than 25% of the student’s duties and responsibilities are administrative/clerical in nature. (i.e., event setup and takedown, filing, copying, etc.)

Responsibilities:
  • Provide career coaching guidance to COSAM students on topics such as major/career exploration, resume and cover letter development, and internship/job search strategies. Training and resources will be provided.
  • Facilitate workshops and classroom presentations for COSAM student organizations, academic courses (e.g., SCMH), and orientation programs.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the Career Services unit, including appointment management, data entry, and the use of platforms such as Handshake, Salesforce, Big Interview, and Adobe Express.
  • Support the planning and execution of COSAM-sponsored events, including career fairs, employer information sessions, workshops, and on-campus interviews (setup, check-in, and breakdown).
  • Assist with the visualization and reporting of career services data using tools like Power BI or Tableau to track student engagement, event attendance, and program outcomes.
Qualifications:

Must be a current Auburn University graduate student pursuing a degree in the College of Sciences and Mathematics, College of Human Sciences, or College of Liberal Arts

  • Note: Due to recent budget adjustments, students enrolled in Colleges of Education and/or Business graduate programs are not eligible for this opportunity
