The Career Specialist for the Arts, Design, Communication, and Technology cluster provides individualized career coaching to students and alumni, helping them explore their interests, understand their strengths, and gain relevant experience to achieve their post-graduation goals. The role develops and delivers targeted career development programming, including workshops and classroom presentations. The specialist leads employer outreach and partnership development while building strong relationships with faculty and campus partners to expand opportunities and strengthen the university's career ecosystem.
Primary position responsibilities:
- Provides individual and group career coaching to assist students and alumni in developing and implementing career decisions and plans. Provides resume guidance, interviewing and job search strategy support. Stays up to date on hiring practices for industries in respective career cluster.
- Presents Career Development programs and class presentations. Collaborates with academic administrators, faculty members and other relevant constituencies of the university to enhance students' career development options and success. In partnership with team, evaluates career development resources, workshops, classroom presentations, recruiting events and other programming, to ensure that all offerings remain effective, scalable and relevant. Works to embed occupational well-being and career readiness across the curriculum to reach all Arts, Design, Communication & Tech students.
- Actively conducts employer outreach to support campus recruiting. Builds and maintains a network of employers. Works alongside Recruitment Coordinator to develop and implement career fairs and networking events involving employer participation.
- Facilitates connections between students, alumni and employers. Collaborates with academic administrators, faculty, and other relevant university colleagues to enhance student success. Attends faculty meetings and represents Belmont in university-wide initiatives representing the career development team.
- Participates in strategic planning and contributes input to develop and achieve strategic objectives.
- Assists with collection of University career outcome data including, but not limited to, the annual First Destination Report.
- Utilizes online career management tools and resources. Understands and leverages technologies ethically to enhance efficiencies, complete tasks, and accomplish goals.
