Job description:
We're looking for a dedicated Career Counselor/Workforce Development Specialist to join our team and assist clients in transitioning back into employment. In this role, you’ll conduct career counseling, coordinate training programs, and provide valuable resource referrals while ensuring compliance with County, State, and Federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly training orientations (in-person or via Webex) and assess client eligibility.
- Develop individualized employment plans and guide clients on job search strategies and skill development.
- Connect clients with training programs, supportive services, and employers.
- Monitor progress, approve timesheets, and provide ongoing follow-up support.
- Maintain accurate client records and input data into NJDOL/ETS systems.
- Represent the agency at job fairs, outreach events, and layoff response sessions.
- Collaborate with internal staff, external agencies, and training providers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in social services, human services, or teaching (government/non-profit experience preferred).
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, counseling, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tech savy
- Flexible, organized self-starter with problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of employment, education, training, labor, or unemployment laws a plus.
Hours: Monday-Friday business hours. 35 hours per week. Temp-to-perm (6 month temp term)Newton.
Pay: $20-$24
