The Career & College Promise (CCP) Advisor-(11 months) supports the Central Carolina Works (CCW) initiative, a program designed to expand access to college coursework for high school students through North Carolina's Career & College Promise (CCP) program. This position serves as a liaison between Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) and Lee County Schools, ensuring a seamless dual-enrollment experience for students.

The CCP Advisor collaborates with high school administrators, school personnel, and CCCC staff to support students enrolled in CCP pathways, under the supervision of the Director of Secondary Partnerships. Responsibilities include providing academic advising, assisting students with CCP enrollment processes, helping students navigate course options, and promoting awareness of dual-enrollment opportunities. The CCP advisor will support any other duties as assigned by the Director and work in conjunction with the Lead CCP Advisor for Lee County. This position reports to the Director of Secondary Partnerships.

The CCP Advisor is assigned to Lee County High School and will also provide support for a charter school in Lee County. Assignments may be adjusted based on county priorities and program needs at the discretion of the Director of Secondary Partnerships.

  • This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required.

  • Some evening and weekend work may be required for departmental events and meetings.

Essential Duties

Advising Responsibilities

  • Manage the CCP operations at assigned high school(s).

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for CCCC enrollment services and program information.

  • Assist students and families in navigating CCP admissions policies and procedures; answers specific inquiries, maintains contact with prospective students, and ensures completion of application materials of students in the dual enrollment program.

  • Assesses prospective student admission data such as test scores and placement information, reviews transcripts from high schools, and evaluates other relative documentation for eligibility into CCP pathways.

  • Work with students one-on-one to plan and reach career and educational goals, referring them to appropriate academic programs and or short-term training options.

  • Provide academic and career guidance regarding skills, interests, and personality traits.

  • Provides college and career advising and registers students in courses per CCP pathways and policies.

  • Ensure students receive timely interventions, support services, and proactive outreach based on academic performance and engagement.

  • Report bi-weekly grade updates to assigned high schools for all enrolled CCP students.

  • Updates and submits enrollment records every semester as required in CCP policy.

  • Engage students, counselors, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders as appropriate in information sessions related to college success and the CCP program.

  • Manage college textbooks at high school sites.

  • Encourage and support college activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.

  • Engage students in co-curricular career community activities to foster student development and establish a sense of belonging.

  • Foster a culture of care and advocacy by embracing compassion, creating opportunities, upholding integrity, demonstrating courage, and prioritizing people.

  • Actively engages with college committees as appointed.

  • Celebrates student achievement at graduation ceremonies and other recognitions.

  • Attends departmental, divisional, and collegewide meetings, as directed by the Director of Secondary Partnerships.

  • Work with the CCP team to ensure CCP and college enrollment goals are met and college pathway materials and instructional supplies are distributed.

  • Engages in a minimum of 5 hours of professional development each year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Secondary Partnerships.

Minimum Requirements

Required educational background:

  • Associate degree

Required work experience:

  • 1 year of experience advising high school students for college courses OR
  • 3+ years of experience working in K-12, community college, or university setting

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage student caseloads, maintain accurate records, and monitor academic progress.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with K-12 and postsecondary stakeholders to support student success and align program goals.
  • Experience leading presentations and information sessions for events in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency with technology, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
