Reports To: Principal/Career Tech Director
Salary: Based on salary schedule for 207 days.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goal: To help students define their career aspirations and identify college or CTE programs and/or training to meet those aspirations and achieve their educational goals.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate endorsed in the relevant subject area.
- Minimum of three years successful teaching experience.
- Must complete a criminal background check through the Alabama State Department of Education at your own expense.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represents the Career Coach Program in K-12 schools and conducts public relations efforts to promote CTE programs.
- Provides career development guidance for K-12 students with emphasis on technical programs.
- Plans and implements student recruitment activities for technical programs.
- Assists elementary and secondary students with career exploration activities and career assessments.
- Assists students with admissions, financial aid, and registration procedures for college admission.
- Provides information to students and their families regarding career choices.
- Conducts classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities.
- Provides students with information regarding the current job market and trends in career choices.
- Plans, schedules, and attends college campus tours and industry tours with students.
- Coordinates job shadowing opportunities for students.
- Maintains ongoing database of students and classrooms where services are offered.
- Complies with all policies of the LEA and the Alabama State Department of Education.
- Works collaboratively with other members of the Tuscumbia City School District.
