Position Summary

The Career and College Transfer Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting students with career planning, internships, certification, portfolio development, job placement and college transfer. The position also requires comprehensive documentation of job placement, salary and transfer information for students.

Salary Schedule: Appropriate step placement on C 3 03 ($47.322-77,309)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate career planning and job placement activities for students and graduates.
  • Provide pre-admission, career and transfer counseling.
  • Administer and interpret career assessment in inventories to assist students in career exploration and planning.
  • Administer assessments such as Accuplacer, TEAS, CAPP, etc.
  • Advise students and assist with registration each term.
  • Assist with New Student Orientation.
  • Utilize available resources (i.e. local employers, Employment Services Office, Websites) to locate and develop jobs for students and graduates.
  • Coordinate WIOA program activities and services for students as needed.
  • Coordinate an annual Career Fair and periodic on-campus recruiting visits by local employers.
  • Coordinate an annual College Transfer Fair and periodic on-campus visits by four-year institutions.
  • Coordinate and assist students in the acquisition of transfer scholarships.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all employer contacts, job listings, and services to students and prepare summary reports each term.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate a strong internship/co-op programs for students.
  • Work with instructors on student certification.
  • Work with students and instructors to develop effective student portfolios.
  • Coordinate a portfolio development class/seminar for students and graduates.
  • Work with appropriate college staff to document and utilize Work Keys assessment results.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive student follow-up plan that will facilitate the collection, analysis, reporting, review, and evaluation of data regarding students, graduates, and non-graduates.
  • Maintain a database documenting accurate and current job placement, salary and transfer information for all students, graduates, and leavers.
  • Conduct graduating student, employer satisfaction, and other surveys as appropriate.
  • Compile, organize, analyze, and evaluate survey results and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Provide and maintain accurate and comprehensive information for local, state, federal programs, and accreditation reporting.
  • Assist with collecting, analyzing and reporting Gainful Employment data for career technical programs.
  • Develop and coordinate career awareness and career exploration activities to meet the needs of prospective, special populations, and target groups.
  • Develop and conduct workshops, seminars and activities to assist students with preparation for employment and/or transfer to four-year institutions.
  • Facilitate/teach Freshmen Academy courses as needed.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Counseling, Education or related field.
  • Five years of work experience in postsecondary education.
  • Experience in career planning, student advising, and/or student follow-up activities.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated exceptional written, verbal, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with job development and internship/co-op programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and network with business and industry representatives.

Sick Leave

All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Retirement

The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. Tuition Assistance

This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.

Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:

  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
  • 2/3 waived after 2nd year
  • 3/3 waived after 3rd year
