    ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Cardiology Technician to support the McCandless location.

    Shift Details:

    • Monday - Friday 6am - 4:30pm
    • Rotating weekends and holidays
    • Shifts will be further discussed during the interview

    Responsibilities

    • Performs 24-hour Holter EKGs, routine EKGs, exercise stress tests, signal-averaged EKGs, and heart variability measurements using proper techniques and equipment, based on skill level.

    • Completes additional duties as assigned by the Administrative Director

    • Educates patients about procedures, provides necessary instructions, and obtains required consent forms prior to testing.

    • Monitors patients' physical conditions during procedures and reports abnormalities to the supervisor, nurse practitioner, attending physician, and/or Cardiology Director as appropriate.

    • Processes diagnostic data and prepares reports, including relevant medical diagnoses and cardiac medications, for cardiologist interpretation.

    • Complies with established occupational exposure policies and stays current on applicable standards and updates.

    • Prepares, maintains, and organizes patient records, files, and related documentation, ensuring accuracy and proper retention practices.

    • Cleans, maintains, and stocks equipment, supplies, and work areas according to department standards.

    • Assists with clinical and administrative duties, including scheduling patients, handling appointment calls, and managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.

    • Demonstrates the ability to provide age-appropriate care, education, and service to patients across all stages of life and varying states of health and disease.

    • Communicates effectively with patients and maintains an understanding of the physical and emotional impacts of disease and illness.

    • High school graduate plus satisfactory completion of a medical assistant program, cardiology technician program, or as an LPN if experience requirements are met.

    • Must successfully pass a rhythm recognition exam after completion of a hospital provided course.

    • Approved previous on-the-job training and experience in a Cardiology area, either Hospital setting or physician office may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements.

    • The individual should be knowledgeable in stress testing procedures, Holter monitor applications and interpretation

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR within 30 days of hire
    • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
    • Act 33 with renewal
    • Act 34
    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
