Job Summary:
The cardiovascular technician plays a vital role in providing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, ensuring optimal outcomes and satisfaction for both patients and their families. This position involves assisting physicians with a variety of procedures conducted in the catheterization lab.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- Completion of high school or possession of a GED
- Graduation from a Radiology Technologist or Cardiovascular Technologist program, or equivalent experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Key Responsibilities:Patient Care
- Support the medical stability of patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab by monitoring vital signs, hemodynamic pressures, and cardiac rhythms, promptly reporting any abnormalities to the physician.
- Assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including pacemaker implantation, while adhering to sterile techniques.
- Communicate any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team, especially in cases of pain or discomfort, and provide education to patients before and after procedures.
Environment
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and sterile environment by preparing the necessary instruments following sterile protocols for specific procedures.
Data Management
- Engage in data collection to ensure compliance with regulations and assess the quality of patient outcomes.
- Keep accurate records during procedures.
Quality Improvement
- Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing patient and family satisfaction.
- Monitor patient outcomes by engaging in Performance Improvement activities.

- Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and participation in hospital training opportunities.
