JOB DESCRIPTION

The Cardiac Procedure Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patients for surgical services and outpatient diagnostic services for patients within the Baptist Health Care System. The primary role of this position includes scheduling via phone, faxes and electronic orders received through order facilitator from the ordering physician's office. This position adheres to and ensures all of Baptist's surgical guidelines are followed when scheduling surgery cases. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the surgery schedule, processing surgery reschedules and cancellations, scheduling other outpatient diagnostic procedures and providing excellent customer service to patients, physicians' office staff, physicians and ancillary service departments. This position coordinates with the insurance verification and precertification teams and other related patient access teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proficient in scheduling in all modalities within the ORMIS surgery scheduling system and the SCI-schedule maximizer system.
  • Proficient in utilizing all functionality of SCI-order facilitator, including monitoring and processing of incoming fax queue.
  • Proactively works with surgeons' offices to fill any open times in the surgery schedule, reorganizing the schedule to accommodate office needs where possible.
  • Proficient in monitoring schedules for Main OR, SOP, PACU within the ORMIS surgery scheduling system and identifying compression opportunities on a daily basis. Proficient in scheduling in all modalities within outpatient diagnostic scheduling system.
  • Maintains Baptist Health Care goals of scheduling, registration accuracy, insurance verification, pre-registration, pre-certification, up-front collections, and other healthcare industry standards or trends in which the call center metrics of measurement is based. (Length of call; quality of call; accuracy of patient demographics and scheduling information).
  • Understands fully all functionality of all PASS Software Systems utilized. HealthQuest HIS, Schedule Maximizer, ORMIS, TransUnion MedConnect and TransUnion ClearQuote.
  • Proficient in coordination between scheduling team, anesthesia services, related departmental personnel and device vendors for scheduling of specific complex services (Open Hearts, Total Joints, L&D).
  • Obtains accurate demographic and reimbursement related information and enters it into the applicable computer system.
  • Understands all regulatory agency requirements (i.e. Joint Commission, HIPPA, EMTALA, OIG, and CMS, etc.) as it relates to software under PASS' management.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Minimum Work Experience
  • 0-1 year Healthcare revenue cycle experience (scheduling, patient access, financial assistance, insurance billing, patient and/or insurance collections, reimbursement, health care customer service, payer contracting, or coding) Required
