IntroductionThis recruitment is being conducted to fill 10 vacancies with San Joaquin General Hospital and to establish a referral pool for future vacancies. Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.Typical DutiesObserve cardiac rhythms continuously and communicate changes in rhythm, rate, and trends to licensed staff such as nurses and physicians.Document rhythm strip notifications of arrhythmia with initials and post to chart.Recognize lethal arrhythmias immediately and react quickly and efficiently in emergency situations by notifying licensed staff and maintaining appropriate communication during critical situations.Ensure alarm limits are appropriately turned on and verify them to ensure accurate correlation with current rhythm.Ensure and adjust size and limit of heart rate on monitoring parameters.Document in telemetry logbook accurately and maintain a count of telemetry boxes and batteries.Troubleshoot monitor alarms and artifacts appropriately and discard artifacts from alarms each shift.Perform basic care of monitoring equipment as required and interact with the biomedical technician regarding maintenance and repair.Change and maintain batteries for telemetry boxes.Give and receive report on all patient rhythms.Ensure adequate supplies of telemetry paper and batteries for both stations; observe cardiac monitors which have pre‑set parameters at a central monitoring station.Greet the public, answer phones, take messages, open patient charts to verify telemetry orders, and assist in maintaining medical records.Measure, analyze, and print rhythm strips every four hours and/or any arrhythmia alarms during the shift.Perform tasks within the scope of educational preparation, knowledge, and facility procedures and guidelines.Access the assignment manager, print the assignment for the assigned telemetry units at the beginning of each shift, and adhere to all HIPAA rules and regulations.Review the assignment manager every two hours for updates (new admissions, discharges, and any staffing changes). [1]Review and correlate the correct assigned telemetry box/number with the patient documented on the assignment manager and notify the charge nurse for any discrepancy.Minimum QualificationsExperience: One (1) year equivalent to Nursing Assistant with San Joaquin County.Special Requirement: Successful completion of a Cardiac Rhythm Recognition course (12 hours or more class duration) as assigned by Nursing Education.
