MISSION:

DEFINITION:
Provides technical and administrative supervision to a group of technicians engaged in performing a full range of non-invasive cardiac electrodiagnostic examinations.
Essential Job Functions
Prepares performance evaluation reports on all subordinate technical and clerical personnel.
Meets with medical and nursing supervisory personnel to resolve inter-disciplinary problems or investigate incidents involving reports of sub-standard practices or unsatisfactory handling of patients on the part of technicians in their administering of examinations, recommends disciplinary action where indicated to the departmental medical director.
Interviews applicants and recommends the hiring of technicians.
Prepares and/or reviews the preparation by subordinates of formal procedural instructions for the operation of new equipment and accessories.
Orients technicians, nurse, interns and residents in the use of new equipment and related procedures in the cardiac electro-diagnostic field.
Establishes quality control standards in the form of written guidelines for technicians in their appraisal of test results; spot-checks test results to assess the overall quality of tracings and other test data; and devises and conducts in service sessions to correct apparent group operating deficiencies.
Prepares written recommendations concerning annual budget requirements for personnel, equipment, and supplies by projecting, estimating, and justifying needs.
Requirements
We are looking for dedicated individuals who have:
Four (4) years experience performing all types of cardiac electrodiagnostic examinations, including one (1) years' experience performing * at the level of a Cardiac Electrodiagnostic Technician III, including the interpretation of the results of dynamic electrocardiograms.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Additional points will be awarded for experience at the level of a Cardiac Electrodiagnostic Technician III in excess of the Minimum Requirements.
OUT-OF-CLASS EXPERIENCE:
Los Angeles County employees attempting to meet the requirements via experience inconsistent with their official payroll title will be considered for this examination. Applicants claiming out-of-class experience to meet the requirements should describe their out-of-class duties in detail in the Work Experience and Supplemental Questions sections of their application. Applicants are also encouraged to submit any supporting documentation such as out of class/additional responsibility bonuses, verification of experience documents, and performance evaluations in order to assist staff's review of applicants qualifications.
PHYSICAL CLASS II - Light:
This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience and desirable qualifications based upon your application information, weighted 100%.
Candidates need to achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register.
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the eligible register accordingly.
Candidates who have received a passing score are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months.
No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.

The eligible register for this examination will be used to fill vacancies throughout the Department of Health Services as they occur.
SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Appointees may be asked to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
