The Cardiovascular Testing department at Elliot Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility offering advanced cardiovascular care and treatments. Our highly trained staff of doctors, nurses, technicians, and therapists provides the highest quality care for our patients. The lab offers comprehensive diagnostic services using the latest technology including cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, CT scans, MRI scans, and nuclear imaging. We also specialize in interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stenting, arrhythmia treatment, ventricular assist devices, and valve repair or replacement.
About the Job:
The Cardiac Device Tech will see patients in the practice cardiac device clinic and collaborate with the
RNs and providers on device evaluations and adjustments
What You’ll Do:
- Interpret data and intervene for reprogramming of device within the scope of clinical guidelines
- and under limited supervision of the Arrhythmia Service Providers.
- Collect diagnostic testing data, recognize abnormal results, and present data to licensed
- provider for final analysis. Play an integral part in overseeing appropriate pacemaker / ICD
- patient follow-up to ensure safe and efficient care.
- Perform pacemaker / ICD intra-cardiac interpretation on various manufacturers’ equipment.
- Evaluate pacemaker and defibrillator function by performing threshold testing utilizing gained
- knowledge of safety margins.
- Recognize the importance of establishing underlying rhythm prior to device testing, as well as
- patient symptoms and physiological signs of inappropriate device function or potential
- malfunction.
- Perform 12 Lead ECG / EKG and Rhythm strips.
- Manage web-based patient care networks for daily analysis of scheduled and alert data.
- Manage the cardiac device software system to ensure appropriate patient follow up is
- scheduled; provide technical oversight of the system.
- Monitor and support home telemetry systems for cardiac patients with implantable devices.
- Review alerts daily and, using clinical knowledge, assess risk and determine proper follow-up
- based on established criteria.
- Maintain and update data on assigned cardiac population, capturing data into software
- applications, and ensuring that follow up is current for each patient.
- Interact with patients to educate them about their implantable home monitoring
- device. Provide patient education and troubleshoot technical issues with the patient over the
- phone.
- Provide ongoing support for implantable devices, serving as a resource for patient questions;
- troubleshoot problems.
- Participate in and successfully complete mandatory educational requirements while serving in
- the role.
- Support areas within cardiovascular services as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work is performed primarily on site.
- Knowledge of and experience with cardiac implanted devices and programmers.
- Possess basic 12 lead interpretation skills.
Who You Are:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a program focused on cardiac device management required
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Basic Life Support certification required within sixty (60) days of employment.
- Certified Cardiac Technician (CCI) preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in cardiovascular services or related experience required.
- Experience with cardiac implanted device programmers preferred
- Knowledge of telemetry/intra-cardiac electrograms required.
- Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias and the ability to recognize serious and life[1]threatening arrhythmias required.
- Basic knowledge of the cardiovascular system is required.
