Living Carbon is a public benefit company with a mission to fight climate change by transforming marginal land into high-value environmental assets. Our team specializes in restoring abandoned mineland and degraded agricultural land into diverse, thriving forests. We're backed by prominent investors, including Temasek, Toyota Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Felicis Ventures, and YCombinator.

We are looking for a talented and driven Financial Analyst to join our finance team and support the development of Excel models for our carbon projects. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the finance and project management teams to analyze financial data, forecast project outcomes, and assess the financial viability of carbon projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial modeling, project analysis, and sustainability finance while making a meaningful impact on environmental conservation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Excel models to analyze the financial performance and feasibility of carbon projects, including revenue projections, cost estimations, and investment returns.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze financial and operational data related to carbon projects to identify trends, patterns, and key performance indicators.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to assess the impact of different variables, assumptions, and market conditions on the financial outcomes of carbon projects.
  • Evaluate financial risks associated with carbon projects and propose risk mitigation strategies to ensure project success and financial sustainability.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations summarizing financial analysis, project performance, and recommendations for stakeholders and management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, carbon foresters, and supply chain, to integrate financial considerations into project planning and decision-making processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the accuracy and reliability of financial models and analyses.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in an underwriting/forecasting focused position.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions and financial modeling techniques.
  • Solid understanding of financial concepts, including NPV, IRR, ROI, and financial statement analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for environmental sustainability and interest in carbon markets and climate finance.

Compensation:

  • $100,000 - $115,000 a year
  • Living Carbon PBC offers competitive compensation, and generous healthcare, dental and vision insurance.

Equal Opportunity Employer:

  • Living Carbon PBC is an equal opportunity employer.
  • We believe the best solutions to climate change are created by diverse teams. Living Carbon is focused on building a multicultural and inclusive team with strong representation from the many diverse communities disproportionately impacted by climate change.
  • As a public benefit corporation, ensuring solutions to slow climate change are widely distributed to all peoples is critical to the success of our mission.

Note on AI Tools:

  • We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
  • These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
