Substitute Safety Officers

POSITION SUMMARY:

Campus Security shall monitor all persons entering and leaving school property, maintain control and provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and all District constituencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Request identification and direct all persons entering the building
• Patrol the building and property as assigned
• Supervise students, parents and visitors in the building to prevent loitering, theft, and vandalism.
• Monitor parking areas to protect against theft and vandalism as well as assist in traffic control as assigned.
• Maintain personal and radio communications to report violations and receive instructions.
• Assist with crowd control especially during dismissal, fire drills, emergencies, evacuations and special events.
• Maintain a cooperative working relationship with all District constituencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to complete all physical duties as assigned at 100% capacity.
• Essential Functions/ Frequent Physical duties:
• Walk ( even or uneven surfaces )
• Stand ( for 4 or more hours at a time )
• Sit ( for 30 minutes or more at a time )
• Occasional Physical duties:
• Lift/ Carry 1 - 50 pounds unassisted
• Push/ Pull 1 - 50 pounds unassisted
• Bend/ Stoop/ Twist
• Crouch/ Squat
• Reach above and below shoulders
• Repetitive arm and wrist use
• Walking ( on even walking surface )
• Walking ( on uneven walking surfaces )
• Repetitive Grabbing/ Squeezing
• Climb ladder/ stairs

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to perform the essential functions of their position at 100% capacity, without any permanent physical limitations that would limit his/her ability
• Be a licensed driver and/ or have transportation to and from worksite
• High school diploma
• maintain a work learning environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act
• Successful Criminal History Clearance
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or appropriate employment authorization
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bilingual/Multilingual
• College credits
• Workshops, seminars, or coursework in security

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT & COMPENSATION

Full Time position. For the 26/27 SY, compensation range for this role is (Step 0, $22.77 / hourly) - (Step 7, $26.03/ hourly). Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.

This is a temporary substitute assignment with a fixed contract for the school year. This position does not include year-round employment, benefits, or guaranteed continued assignment beyond the designated season/ contracted period. Must reapply for the next school year.
