This regular, full-time administration position will typically work Monday through Friday, with variable or extended hours as needed by the department or the College to support activities scheduled evenings and/or weekends.

Occasional travel to other KCC instructional sites in the service region may be expected to provide program support services.

Regular on-campus presence is expected for all KCC employees. Any flexible and/or hybrid work schedules are subject for review, approval, and/or change based on the needs of the College.

Position Summary

The Campus and Community Coordinator position in Lifelong Learning supports the delivery and continuous improvement of Lifelong Learning programs offered across KCC's main campus and regional centers. This position ensures high‑quality student experiences by assisting in program logistics, supporting instructors, and serving as an on‑site resource during evening and weekend classes. The Coordinator also strengthens the College's community presence by cultivating partnerships with organizations to expand access to Lifelong Learning offerings.

This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a passion for community engagement. The Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that regional centers provide welcoming, well‑run, and student-centered environments that reflect the mission of the Lifelong Learning Department.

Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands

The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree OR associate degree plus at least two (2+) years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build professional relationships and presence.
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated success working as part of a team and as an individual performer.
  • Ability to independently travel to community and regional sites.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

Preferred but not Required

  • Developed community network within KCC service area.
  • Experience with CRM software, such as Constant Contact, Pro Class, or other related systems.

Proposed Salary

According to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, the 2025-2026 annual salary range for a Professional 1 position, $50,776 to $59,734 to start. The 2026-2027 annual salary range for a Professional 1 position will be $52,299 to $61,526, effective July 1, 2026.

Job Duties

Essential Function Regional Center Operations Description

  • Assist the Director in overseeing the operations of Lifelong Learning personal enrichment classes at KCC's main campus and regional centers, ensuring smooth, welcoming, and student‑centered environments.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Lifelong Learning to recommend, refine, and evaluate Lifelong Learning offerings that respond to community interests and regional center needs.
  • Work directly with site leads and instructors to coordinate room access, technology setup, materials, equipment, and overall facility readiness.
  • Ensure instructors feel comfortable, supported, and confident by providing clear communication, troubleshooting assistance, and proactive problem-solving before and during class sessions.
  • Monitor adherence to KCC policies, accessibility standards, and high levels of customer service in all regional center programs.
  • Provide on-site support during evening or weekend classes, serving as a welcoming presence for instructors and students and addressing issues promptly.

Essential Function Community Outreach and Partnership Development Description

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior centers, libraries, community organizations, nonprofits, recreation departments, and other groups within KCC service areas to expand Lifelong Learning opportunities.
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships that support new classes, co-hosted events, community workshops, and outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate and assist with center-based outreach events that highlight Lifelong Learning's personal enrichment programs and build local engagement.
  • Represent Lifelong Learning at community events, fairs, and open houses to increase visibility, strengthen connections, and promote learning.
  • Serve as a community ambassador who communicates the value, accessibility, and enjoyment of Lifelong Learning opportunities and is responsive to the community's needs.

Essential Function Customer Service Description

  • Provide friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable customer service to students, instructors, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Assist students with registration, class questions, navigation, and general support to ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Support instructors by addressing needs quickly, maintaining open communication, and fostering a supportive, collaborative teaching environment.
