Pay Rates: $30 per hour
Overview

Bank Street Summer Camp uses educational professionals and recreational learning to create developmentally focused programs and experiences that are open to any children entering pre-kindergarten through eighth grade (ages 4 to 13). Each day, campers will participate in specialized activities that explore a range of topics, such as Spanish, theater, or STEAM, led by education professionals. Campers will also swim twice a week and go on weekly field trips. The camp day runs from 8:30 AM - 3:15 PM.
As part of Children's Programs at Bank Street, each camp group is located in its own air-conditioned classroom complete with a variety of developmentally appropriate materials. Campers use the outdoor deck and roof as well as the nearby fields and playgrounds located just half a block away in Riverside Park.
Job Summary
------------
The Camper Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the many needs of campers at our Summer Camp ages 4-14. The Camper Support Specialist will review Camper Profiles prior to the start of camp and connect with families that either have an IEP or receive services throughout the school year (OT, PT, SEIT/Shadow).
Responsibilities
----------------
The Camper Support Specialist responsibilities might include but are not limited to:
- Reviewing all Camper Profiles prior to the start of each session.
- Connecting with families to better understand their camper's needs for the summer.
- Creating resources such as slide decks, print outs, laminated flip charts, etc. to help campers with specific growth areas (transition times, pool time, traveling outside the building, etc).
- Creating resources to help counselors with specific growth areas and how to address it with their groups (transition times, pool time, traveling outside the building, etc).
- Offering times for counselors to seek guidance about specific campers or the entire group management.
- Stepping in as needed to support individual campers or counselors including at the pool, on outings, or on field trips.
- Communicating with families primarily through email or phone, but also during pick-up/drop-off as needed.
- Holding regular meetings and check-ins with families receiving services and camp counselors.
- Reporting any incidents or conflicts to Camp Director, Associate Director, and Unit Head.
- Participates in daily leadership meetings and may co-lead weekly meetings for camp staff.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree in Education, Social Work or Child Psychology strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a Head Teacher or in camp leadership strongly preferred; experience working with children in ages 4-14 preferred.
- Experience with progressive education or prior experience as working as part of the Bank Street community preferred.
- Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Must hold certifications in First Aid & CPR or attend training provided by Bank Street Summer Camp.
- Must attend Camp Staff Orientation before camp begins.
- Must complete full Bank Street College of Education background check including fingerprinting and health physical before camp begins.
Camp Details

Camp will run from June 22-July 31, 2026. Orientation will be held on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday, June 17 (3:00-5:00 PM)
- Thursday, June 18 (10:00 AM- 3:00 PM)
- Saturday, June 20 Classroom Set-up Day (9:00 AM-4:00 PM)
Camp staff hours are 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM each day, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break daily. There may be an option to work at After Camp until 6:00 PM.
