Job Title: Engagement Support Coordinator
FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Lead School Engagement Coordinator
Schedule: Varies, 20hr/week, Weekend and Evenings Required.
Supervises: N/A
Rate of Pay: $25/hr

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:
Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)
Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service) with at least 21 hours worked per week.
Function:
The Engagement Support Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating on-site enrichment programming for children and youth at the Tamarac Family Shelter. This position is the primary dedicated youth services role at the shelter, supporting structured activities for children, adults, and family units together and other volunteer-led initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and facilitate youth enrichment activities such as STEM learning, creative arts, literacy development, and recreational programs.
Support and coordinate volunteer-led programs, ensuring effective engagement and supervision.
Organize and facilitate family-friendly events, including movie nights and interactive learning sessions.
Assist families with school enrollment intakes, providing guidance on available educational resources.
Build positive relationships with youth and families, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
Maintain accurate documentation of program participation, engagement metrics, and progress reports.
Competent in working independently within clear parameters in a team environment
Bi-lingual (preferred)
Continued employment will be contingent on a biennial (every 2 years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
Internal PTM training within first three months of employment
Performs other duties as required.

Evening and weekend availability required to support youth programming and family engagement activities.
Education/Experience
A bachelor's degree in human services, social work or related field; MSW preferred
Two years' work experience with homeless populations
Knowledge of the complexities of people experiencing homelessness
Knowledge of community resources

Strong customer service skills
Ability to complete timely and detailed documentation (including assessments)
Ability to use professional discretion to determine appropriate interventions
Competence in working independently within clear parameters in a team environment
