Uncle Giuseppes Gourmet Bakery is actively seeking a talented and creative Full-Time Cake Decorator to join our team at our Bohemia store. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for bakery artistry and a commitment to delivering beautifully decorated, high-quality products that delight our customers.
As a Cake Decorator, you will be responsible for decorating cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Creatively decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items
- Assist in the production of bakery items such as parfaits, bars, and cupcakes
- Produce in-house products according to daily production levels
- Maintain accurate production and spoilage records
- Prepare, package, weigh, and price bakery products for sale
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and proper rotation
- Provide exceptional customer service in a friendly and timely manner
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work and shopping environment
- Ensure all equipment meets cleanliness and safety standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong cake decorating skills, including flowers, borders, and piping techniques
- Solid understanding of bakery products and presentation standards
- Ability to follow recipes, directions, and established procedures
- Basic math skills for recipe adjustments and conversions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Passion for food and commitment to delivering high-quality products
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
Experience & Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Professional or in-depth training in cake decorating preferred
- Minimum of 2+ years of cake decorating experience in a retail environment
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English
- Detail-oriented with a strong artistic eye
