Greene County Schools is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cafeteria Manager to lead the daily operations of a school cafeteria. This position plays a vital role in ensuring students receive healthy, nutritious meals in a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of cafeteria operations, including food preparation, service, inventory, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate a team of up to five employees, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and communications using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.).
  • Monitor food quality and safety standards; ensure compliance with USDA, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and implement solutions to challenges in staffing, food service, or equipment.
  • Provide clear communication with staff, administrators, and students.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and customer-friendly cafeteria atmosphere.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in managing a commercial kitchen or large-scale food service environment.
  • Current food safety certification (or ability to successfully complete certification within 6 weeks of hire).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and lead a team effectively.
  • Independent learner with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a school or institutional food service setting.
  • Knowledge of federal child nutrition programs.
  • Budgeting and inventory management experience.
