Primary Purpose:

Responsible for on-site leadership of campus food services operations. Ensure that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served and safe food handling standards are met; meet time constraints set by menu requirements established by the Director of Food Services; and meet all federal and state child nutrition regulations.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

ServeSafe Certification or Equivalent

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to manage personnel

Knowledge of the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs

Knowledge of the National School Afterschool Snack program

Knowledge of basic computer skills

Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparation

Knowledge of food handler safety

Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Three (3) years' experience in the child nutrition industry.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs rules and regulations, National School Afterschool Snack program, the Texas Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Division rules and regulations, and the USDA Smart Snacks in Schools rules and regulations.
  • Develop work schedules, assign work to campus food service workers, and oversee completion of duties.
  • Maintain all serving schedules and serve all food items according to menu specifications defined by departmental policies and procedures. Plan and prepare meals that meet the USDA weekly nutritional analysis. Complete food production records daily.
  • Work cooperatively with Director of Food Service and/or campus principal to accommodate temporary schedule changes, special serving requirements and to resolve personnel problems.
  • Ensure food is produced safely and is of high quality according to policies, procedures, and department requirements. Store and handle food items and supplies safely following health and safety codes and regulations. Follow Burnet CISD Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) policies and procedures.
  • Conduct food handler safety training at the campus level and enforce standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
  • Ensure appropriate quantities of food and supplies are available through daily orders and periodic inventories.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area. Keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary.
  • Report needed equipment repairs. Recommend replacement of existing equipment to meet department needs.
  • Conduct monthly food and supplies inventory.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents including daily and monthly financial reports, production records, and HACCP logs for five years.
  • Review and submit accurate time and attendance records for payroll reporting purposes.
  • Maintain student confidentiality information.
  • Attend all required training as directed.
