CONTROLS DESIGN MANAGER Position Summary The Controls Design Manager is responsible for leading the Controls Design department while providing technical oversight for industrial control panel design and documentation activities. This role combines engineering leadership, project execution, team development, and design governance to ensure high-quality, standards-compliant deliverables that support automation projects. Key Responsibilities • Lead, mentor, and develop Controls Designers and Senior Designers. • Manage departmental workload planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. • Establish and maintain electrical CAD standards, procedures, and best practices. • Review and approve electrical drawing packages prior to release for manufacturing. • Ensure compliance with UL 508A, NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and SCCR requirements. • Serve as the technical authority for industrial control panel design and documentation. • Collaborate with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, Panel Shop personnel, and customers. • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance development of department personnel. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD workflows and design quality. • Oversee customer design reviews and technical discussions. Required Qualifications • Associate"s or Bachelor"s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field. • 8+ years of industrial controls design experience. • 2-5+ years of leadership, supervisory, or project management experience. • Advanced proficiency in EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical. • Strong knowledge of PLC systems, instrumentation, VFDs, motor controls, and power distribution. • Extensive knowledge of UL 508A, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and industrial control panel standards. • Excellent communication, customer-facing, and team leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications • UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative designation. • Experience managing a Controls Design department. • Experience developing CAD standards and quality systems. • Experience supporting panel fabrication and design-for-manufacturing practices. • Experience implementing workflow automation and process improvements. Ideal Candidate A hands-on technical leader capable of managing a Controls Design department while remaining actively involved in project execution, technical review, mentoring, customer support, process improvement, and design standardization.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
