Job Summary:
The Cabinet Designer is a hybrid role and responsible for creating functional, aesthetic, and accurate cabinet designs that meet client needs and align with project specifications while also selling the project. This role involves collaborating with customers, other design and sales staff, and project managers to develop layouts, produce detailed drawings, closing the sale, and ensure designs are ready for production and installation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients, Interior Designers, or contractors to understand project requirements and preferences
- Design kitchen, bath, and interior spaces as well as outdoor kitchens using 2020 Designs Connect or other design programs (e.g., AutoCAD, Chief Architect, SketchUp)
- Create detailed shop drawings, elevations, and 3D renderings
- Ensure cabinet designs are functional, accurate, and manufacturable within company standards
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, and hardware in line with client specifications and budget
- Prepare and present design and sales proposals to clients for review and approval
- Collaborate with Project Management Team and Installers to resolve design or fit issues
- Maintain accurate and current records of designs (elevations, floorplans, and renderings), revisions, and approvals
- Possess the ability to order all materials associated with the job (could be cabinets, countertops, flooring, backsplash, and accessories)
- Stay up to date with design trends, cabinet innovations, product launches as well as discontinuations, and building codes
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of experience in cabinetry design, interior design, or millwork
- Proficiency in design software (2020 Design, AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or similar)
- Good or strong knowledge of product materials including but not limited to cabinet construction, countertop surfaces, cabinet hardware, flooring surfaces, and backsplash materials
- Excellent spatial awareness, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to provide excellent customer service during the entire time you are working with the client
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Office and showroom environment with regular visits to job sites
- Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods
- Occasional lifting of samples, drawings, or small materials (up to 25 lbs)

- Familiarity with current trends in kitchen, bath, and custom cabinetry design
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
