Position Title: Business System Analyst

Location: Vienna, VA (Hybrid)

Position Status: Contract

Pay Rate: $50 - $55 per hour

Position Description:

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst with expertise in Power BI, business analysis, data analytics, and IT Risk reporting to support enterprise risk management initiatives. This role serves as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, gathering reporting requirements, translating business needs into technical solutions, and delivering impactful dashboards that provide meaningful insights to leadership.

The ideal candidate has experience working with Power BI, SQL, DAX, Power Query, and enterprise data sources, along with strong stakeholder management and requirements gathering skills. Experience supporting IT Risk, Operational Risk, Cybersecurity, Audit, or Governance organizations is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

  • Partner with IT Risk leaders, business stakeholders, risk owners, and control owners to gather, analyze, and document business and reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to define Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), KPIs, reporting metrics, and dashboard functionality.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for reporting, dashboards, and data visualization.
  • Develop and maintain business requirements documents, functional specifications, reporting standards, and data definitions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reporting solutions align with business objectives.

Power BI Reporting & Dashboard Solutions

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Create executive, operational, and regulatory reporting solutions.
  • Develop scalable data models, DAX measures, Power Query transformations, KPIs, scorecards, and trend analyses.
  • Optimize dashboard performance, usability, accessibility, and end-user experience.
  • Enable drill-through capabilities and self-service reporting.

Data Analysis & Risk Reporting

  • Analyze and consolidate data from multiple enterprise systems, including:

  • ServiceNow

  • SQL Server

  • SharePoint

  • Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) platforms

  • Audit and issue management systems

  • Develop reporting and analytics for:

  • Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)

  • Risk Appetite Metrics

  • Control Effectiveness

  • Operational Risk Trends

  • Cybersecurity & Technology Risk Metrics

  • Audit Findings

  • Issue & Action Plan Tracking

Data Governance & Quality

  • Validate data integrity, consistency, and quality across multiple reporting sources.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, reporting standards, and metric definitions.
  • Partner with technical and business teams to resolve data quality issues.
  • Ensure consistency, traceability, and governance of enterprise risk reporting.

Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Support

  • Build executive dashboards and scorecards for senior leadership and risk committees.
  • Present analytical findings, trends, and actionable insights to business stakeholders.
  • Support board-level, executive, and enterprise risk reporting initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills/Education:

  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or Data Analyst.

  • 3+ years of experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.

  • Proven experience gathering, documenting, and managing business and functional requirements.

  • Strong understanding of business systems, reporting processes, and data analysis.

  • Hands-on experience with:

  • Power BI Desktop

  • Power BI Service

  • DAX

  • Power Query

  • SQL

  • Data Modeling

  • Experience working with large datasets from multiple enterprise systems.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management and requirements elicitation experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting IT Risk, Operational Risk, Cybersecurity, Audit, Compliance, or Governance organizations.
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks, KRIs, and risk reporting.
  • Experience with ServiceNow reporting and GRC platforms.
  • Familiarity with Azure, SQL Server, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 data sources.
  • Experience creating executive dashboards and performance scorecards.
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification or equivalent.
