Business Operations Lead

Job Summary

This role sits within the Consumer Platforms and Services group, which builds and operates B2B and DTC business models including VOD, EST, FAST, and AVOD across major CTV OEM partners in the Media, and services in Automotive industries. We are seeking a Business Operations Lead who will partner closely with Finance, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Commercial teams. In this role, you will help shape the day-to-day operation of the platform business by building scalable processes, strengthening financial and accounting controls, and streamlining partner workflows that support growth. You will play a key role in the vision, launch, and ongoing evolution of CP&S platforms.

The ideal candidate is a Business Operations professional who can manage vendors and partners, oversee operational and financial tracking, improve processes, and thrive in a fast-paced startup-like environment. The role is primarily focused on: Vendor & Partner Management (40%), Financial Tracking & Operational Oversight (25%), Process Improvement & Business Operations (20%), and Reporting & Analytics (15%).

Key Responsibilities

Platform-Wide Business Operations Leadership

  • Own operational governance across all CP&S platform business lines, ensuring alignment with financial plans and strategic priorities
  • Serve as the central integrator across Product, Technology, Finance, Tax, Legal, Procurement, Accounting, and external rights organizations (e.g., PROs)
  • Translate business strategy and commercial agreements into scalable operational workflows and execution plans

Financial Operations & Forecast Execution

  • Operationalize budgets, forecasts, and financial plans into day-to-day execution
  • Lead monthly revenue and cost pacing reviews, including variance analysis and risk identification
  • Ensure alignment between approved financial plans and actual spend, revenue, and operational execution

Vendor & Spend Governance

  • Own vendor strategy, SOW development, and execution, ensuring alignment with platform priorities and approved budgets
  • Coordinate cross-functional approvals (Finance, Technology, Legal, Procurement) for all vendor engagements
  • Drive cost efficiency, vendor optimization, and commercial discipline across the platform ecosystem

Deal Operations & Partner Management

  • Own operational oversight of commercial agreements and partner relationships across distribution, platform, and strategic partners
  • Review and track contractual obligations, including payments owed to and from Sony Pictures
  • Ensure partner agreements are executed in compliance with financial, operational, and reporting requirements
  • Coordinate internal approval workflows and governance processes for new partnerships and deal structures
  • Translate deals into executable workflows, ensuring integration into financial forecasting, reporting, and operational processes
  • Review and validate advertising revenue, transactional, and viewership reporting prior to distribution to partners
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of periodic reporting (e.g., quarterly transactional reports) to Accounting and internal stakeholders
  • Manage partner inquiries related to reporting, payments, and operational performance, coordinating with Finance and cross-functional teams
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks within partner workflows, implementing process improvements to enable scale

Transactional & Reporting Operations

  • Own end-to-end transaction integrity across all platform services
  • Lead revenue tracking, reconciliation, and reporting workflows across all monetization models by working closely with Finance
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of: internal financial reporting and partner-facing performance and revenue reporting
  • Establish and maintain controls for accuracy, auditability, and compliance

Tax, PRO & Compliance

  • Partner with Tax and Finance to support territory expansion and ongoing compliance requirements
  • Coordinate tax registration, reporting, and payment processes across new and existing markets
  • Oversee operational execution of PRO and CMO obligations, including: reporting deliverables and royalty calculations and payments
  • Ensure accuracy of royalty reporting, usage tracking, and payment reconciliations
  • Partner with Legal and Finance to evaluate and onboard new PRO/CMO relationships, including fee structures and contractual terms
  • Maintain compliance with evolving regulatory, financial, and reporting requirements across markets

Required Skills

  • Proven experience managing operational budgets, vendor spend, forecasting, accruals, and financial reporting in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of digital platform and streaming business models, including AVOD, FAST, SVOD, and transactional video services across connected TV and digital ecosystems
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships, contract compliance, and operational workflows, with direct coordination across Finance, Accounting, Legal, and Tax functions
  • Proven ability to oversee and execute partner reporting obligations, including: revenue share calculations, royalty reporting, and transactional reconciliation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong cross-functional leadership experience, with the ability to work effectively across Commercial, Product, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to drive scalable processes and operational improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to: interpret financial and operational data, identify risks and opportunities, and develop data-driven recommendations
  • Excellent organizational and program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting operational insights and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with ERP, procurement, or financial systems strongly preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience within connected TV, streaming platforms, digital distribution, or entertainment technology ecosystems strongly preferred
  • Industry background in Entertainment, Streaming, Media, Music, or Gaming preferred

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred

Required Experience

  • The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, operationally rigorous, and comfortable operating across both strategic and executional layers within a complex platform and streaming ecosystem
