Primary Purpose of Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Business Officer for the Division of Student Affairs under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. In addition, the position will independently manage and oversee the business administration for the assistant and associate vice chancellors and the departments within the division. This position works closely with all Division units and duties include involvement in many aspects of facility accounting and purchasing. Functions include annual budget planning and management, financial planning and management, personnel administration, purchasing, inventory control, capitalized assets, planning with capital projects, finance and budget related trainings, and working closely with Housing and Auxiliary Services on housing debt service and multiyear R&R plans, as well as other duties as assigned.

The position ultimately supports the larger Division vision, values, mission and goals: Support the engagement of students in the campus community through both student centered, and student led programs and activities which support student recruitment, enrollment, retention, matriculation, and graduation. Through financial planning and management, support the alignment of Division goals/priorities with those of the UNC System and UNCP strategic plans in support of the Mission. Create an environment of empowerment, buy-in, mutual support, communication, collaboration, and accountability among students and within the Division Leadership, Directors, Mid-Managers, and Support Staff. Support the alignment of finances with the mission, vision, and goals in four holistic wellness areas in support of The Brave Experience.

Management Preference

Prefer candidate with experience in higher education and with Banner experience specifically. Experience with a wide range of funding sources in a dynamic work setting. Expertise with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel and Power Point.
