What We Offer:
The Business Office Coordinator ASC supports the daily operations of the business office in an Ambulatory Surgery Center. This role serves as a key operational resource, ensuring accurate execution of revenue cycle processes, coordination among front-end and back-end revenue cycle functions, scheduling, registration, and adherence to ASC policies and regulatory requirements. The Business Office Coordinator works independently within defined processes and acts as a subject-matter resource for business office staff, without direct supervisory authority.
What We're Looking For:
- Education:
- 2 Year / Associate Degree, required.
- Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
- Experience: 2 years, required. Healthcare business office or revenue cycle experience. 1 year, preferred. ASC business office experience.
- Additional Skills/Requirements (required):
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of front-end and back-end revenue cycle functions
- Working knowledge of insurance verification, authorizations, billing, and coding workflows
- General knowledge of medical insurance terminology
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements
- Proficiency in practice management and electronic health record systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Automated Computer Billing Systems, Accounting Software, etc.)
- Computer literacy, able to do word processing and Excel spreadsheets; able to independently use office equipment such as fax, copier and scanner; sufficiently proficient in medical equipment to guide the selection and bid process. Able to operate all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Able to perform the necessary functions on the center's computer systems. Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians. Ability to make decisions and solve problems. Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and communicate clearly with patients, physicians, and staff.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute copay amounts based on percentages and the ability to conduct currency transactions as required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with upset or irate patients in a calm manner.
- Strong managed-care expertise with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers
- Medical staff privileging and credentialing experience
- Payor negotiations and facility credentialing experience
