QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Mississippi Educator License in secondary education with a Business/Marketing Endorsement or equivalent for CTE. (105 BUSINESS EDUCATION 7-12)

REPORTS TO: Director of CTE

SUPERVISES: Students

JOB GOAL: As the Business, Marketing, and Finance Instructor, you will provide engaging instruction that helps students develop foundational knowledge and practical skills in business, entrepreneurship, marketing, personal finance, and workplace readiness. You will create meaningful learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to realworld business applications.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The CTE Business/Marketing Teacher instructs the student in academic and technical content to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter an occupation. The CTE Business/Marketing teacher is responsible for the following items to further the educational mission of the school:

  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development and physical health
  • Deliver instruction in areas such as entreprenuership, business principles, marketing, finance, economics, and workplace readiness.
  • Design engaging, hands-on lessons and classromm activities that prepare students for postsecondary education and careers in business-related fields.
  • Help students building critical thinking, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulation.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized credentialing opportunities connected to the Business, Marketing, and Finance pathway.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Instruct students in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or occupational field, using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, shop and field studies.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
  • Assign and grade class work and homework.
  • Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
  • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
  • Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Support student participation in CTSOs such as DECA.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs for the benefit of the student.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 days: Applicant will have to satisfy the CTE Endorsement requirements if requirements have not been met at the time of employment.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Trustees' policy on evaluation of District personnel.
