Business Law and Paralegal Studies Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)

Virginia Western Community College, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for part-time Business Law and Paralegal Adjunct Faculty in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). We have a need for an adjunct faculty to teach Criminal Law in the evenings beginning Fall 2023. Additional needs may arise in the areas of Legal Writing and Research, Bankruptcy, Family Law, Real Estate Law, Estate Planning, Legal Transactions, Torts, and Trial Preparation. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. In addition, faculty are expected to be active participants in departmental communication.

Applications will be received and considered on a continuous basis. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until needed positions are filled.

Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications - Juris Doctorate (JD) degree. Two years of current occupational experience in Law required. All Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Considerations - Preferred qualification is current Virginia license to practice law. Experience teaching in a college setting. Experience teaching at the community college-level.
