Position Summary
Is responsible for the creation of data warehousing and reporting solutions utilizing the SAP tools across multiple systems including SAP HANA, Business Warehouse (BW) and Data Services. Create the backend data warehouse infrastructure utilizing various SAP ETL options available, and reporting layer to ensure data integrity, security, and report/data load performance. Engages with business analysts and subject matter experts to gather and document requirements, with minimum supervision. Convert requirements into professional reporting solutions. Ensures the quality of junior developer work products, ability to propose and develop innovative solutions to complex problems/user requirements, by providing technical support and guidance to junior developers. Demonstrates proficiency in backend and/or front-end development objects.
This is a term position anticipated to be needed through Fall 2028 but may be ended or extended based on organizational needs, funding availability, and performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Create a variety of backend objects. Develop complete ETL data flow models, from source system extraction transformations, loading and report creation. Document solution directions, data flows, design and technical specifications.
- Create reporting backend infrastructure and reports. Create complex reports and develop reporting solutions that enhance the end user experience and meet business requirements.
- Develop extractions, transformation routines, and user exits using ABAP development programming language.
- Develop business intelligence reports in support of the college's mission. Engage users to understand needs, gather and document requirements. Follows functional specification documents to ensure report work products meet the needs of the requester.
- Analyze complex problems. Recommend and implement innovative solutions. Communicate requirements and partner with other developers to analyze complex data and process issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, debug, tune and optimize data load and report performance. Work closely with Basis and Portal teams to optimize system performance and monitor usage.
- Create and execute test scripts to ensure that reports provide accurate results and meet the requirements of the customer.
- Collaborate and coordinate with developers and Business Analysts to analyze complex problems and recommend innovative solutions.
- Provide end user and support desk support and provide resolutions. Assist users with reporting navigation or data questions.
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
- equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years hands on experience with the development of SAP BI models (SAP BW and SAP BODS) and minimum of 5 full lifecycle projects.
- Experience with HANA Modelling
- Experience with SAP Analytic Cloud Report creation
- Hands on experience with Power BI Dashboard development
- Hands on experience in DAX(Data Analysis expressions) language to create DAX columns and measures over data models for the purpose of enhancing Power BI visuals.
- Expertise writing scripts in R and Python.
- Solid understanding of database management concepts, including sequences and programming with SQL, SQL Script, and stored procedures
- Strong experience on publishing and distributing Business Intelligence reports
- Hands on experience in SAP authorization
- Solid Power BI experience
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Experience with SAP Finance (Grants, Funds, General Ledger) or Human Capital Management (HCM Payroll, Benefits, SuccessFactors) modules.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Position requires working in an office environment where there some physical discomforts such as dust, dirt, noise, and the like are present. Ability to work off-hours and weekends for go-lives, testing and emergencies, as well as travel between office locations, primarily within NYC is required. Occasional meetings or clinical staff interactions in typical patient care areas may be required though direct patient exposure is not expected. Occasional moving of computer equipment or similar objects up to approximately 50lbs may be required to expedite projects
