Description: The Business Intelligence Analyst supports the creation and maintenance of cybersecurity reporting, dashboards, and recurring metrics. This role focuses on accurate data preparation, reliable reporting delivery, and clear stakeholder communication. Work is completed with frequent guidance and review; The analyst performs routine work with general direction and begins to independently manage standard reporting tasks while escalating more complex issues. Key Responsibilities Data Preparation & Reporting Delivery Prepare and validate datasets used for cybersecurity reporting (ticketing, vulnerability, phishing/awareness, endpoint, identity, compliance metrics, etc.). Produce recurring reports and dashboards following established definitions, templates, and schedules. Document data definitions, report logic, and refresh cadences to support repeatability and auditability. Dashboard & Visualization Support Build or update dashboards and visualizations in approved BI tools (e.g., Domo, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) using established standards. Perform basic troubleshooting for data refresh issues and visual defects; escalate issues with clear context and evidence. Help ensure dashboards are usable, accurate, and accessible for intended audiences. Stakeholder Enablement Gather reporting requirements, clarify questions, and confirm acceptance criteria with stakeholders (with coaching as needed). Provide clear written status updates, release notes, and “how to interpret this metric” guidance. Respond to routine reporting requests and route more complex needs to senior BI resources. Data Quality & Continuous Improvement Execute quality checks (completeness, timeliness, consistency) and flag anomalies promptly. Identify recurring issues (metric ambiguity, data gaps, manual steps) and propose small improvements to reduce rework. Support UAT for metric changes and verify outputs match documented requirements. Level Differentiators (what changes from Level 3 to Level 4) Level (more oversight) Works on clearly defined tasks (scheduled reports, standard data pulls) with frequent check-ins and detailed review. Learns tools, data sources, and metric definitions; escalates issues quickly with guidance. Level (more independence on routine work) Delivers routine reporting and dashboard updates with general instructions; needs help mainly on new or more complex work. Begins optimizing routine workflows (templates, automation ideas, clearer documentation) and handling moderately complex tasks with support. Required Skills BI fundamentals: understanding of metrics, data validation, and visualization best practices. Data skills: basic-to-intermediate SQL; comfort with spreadsheets; ability to reconcile and sanity-check numbers. Visualization: ability to build/update dashboards and explain what they mean to non-technical audiences. Execution & reliability: organized, deadline-driven, strong attention to detail. Communication: clear written updates and documentation; ability to ask clarifying questions and summarize requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field. Lower Level : internship/0–1 year relevant experience acceptable; demonstrates strong learning agility. Mid Level : typically 1–2 years relevant experience supporting reporting, dashboards, or data analysis (or equivalent capability). Experience with BI tools (Domo/Power BI/Tableau), ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow/Jira), and/or data sources is a plus.
