Overview

Business Financial Analyst (VOPS-2026-25484):

Bowhead is seeking Business Financial Analyst with demonstrated experience in the following areas: financial reporting, budgeting, requisitioning, forecasting, and utilization of IBPES financial software.

Responsibilities

The Financial Analyst is responsible for managing financial data, tracking budget allocations, and ensuring accurate financial documentation within the organization. The role involves updating Line of Accounting (LOA) records, analyzing burn rates, reconciling financial documents, and supporting the budgeting and planning process for current fiscal year.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as the Business Financial Analyst for several projects in the Battle Management System (BMS).
  • Compares financial data from various reporting systems to ensure accurate financial data is being reported accurately.
  • Works with Project Leads to establish, maintains, and tracks project spend plans in comparison to actuals to identify trends and areas of concern in financial data
  • Performs analysis and reporting of expenditures and provides recommendations to project/task leads and line managers
  • Ensure that all resources have sufficient levels of funding.
  • Generates and distributes weekly and monthly financial reports to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepares incoming funding documents for acceptances while tracking of all funding sources and vital statistics for H40 funding portfolio, ensuring information is up to date for the Lead Financial Manager in H40.
  • Initiates contract incremental funding request for programmatic contract support.
  • Coordinates fiscal year close-out for BMS program funding.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of direct cite and reimbursable funding constructs.
  • Manage financials using the NSWCDD financial tools, including Navy ERP, EDW, and excel.
  • Processes out-going funding documents.
  • Respond to DARQ/Bev (Tri-Annual) actions monthly.
  • Assists with clearing reimbursable commitments and obligations on BMS funding.
  • Team and partner with the BMS Financial Lead, other BMS financial personnel, and across NSWCDD on financial matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Two plus (2+) year of experience in financial reporting, budgeting, requisitioning, forecasting, and utilization of financial software.
  • Ideal candidate could have understanding of TPS documentation, IBPES or any government or military finance system
  • Ideal candidate could have a thorough knowledge of direct cite and reimbursable funding constructs
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
