Business Development Representative - IL

Job Description:

Elevare Behavioral Health is seeking a Business Development Representative to support referral growth, market expansion, and census development across assigned programs and service areas. This position serves as a key connection between Elevare Behavioral Health and hospitals, therapists, physicians, employee assistance programs, legal professionals, community organizations, and other referral partners.

The Business Development Representative is responsible for building new referral relationships, strengthening existing partnerships, and increasing awareness of Elevare’s behavioral health and substance use treatment services. The role maintains an active presence in the community through in-person visits, professional networking, educational events, outreach campaigns, and ongoing referral partner engagement. This position works closely with Admissions, Clinical, Operations, Marketing, Alumni Services, and facility leadership to support appropriate patient placement, improve referral conversion, address service concerns, and meet census goals across Detox, Residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care. 

The Business Development Representative also monitors market trends, competitor activity, referral outcomes, and performance data to identify opportunities for continued growth.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with referral partners through regular visits, calls, meetings, events, and community outreach
• Execute market development strategies to increase qualified referrals, admissions, and census across Detox, Residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient programs
• Partner with Admissions to improve lead follow-up, referral communication, conversion rates, and appropriate placement
• Lead service recovery efforts for patients, families, and referral partners while coordinating timely resolutions with Clinical and Operations teams
• Maintain accurate CRM documentation and track referral volume, conversion rates, census contribution, market trends, and outreach outcomes
• Support marketing initiatives, alumni events, community engagement activities, facility growth plans, and leadership reporting

Requirements/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, marketing, or a related field preferred
• At least three years of business development, outreach, admissions, or referral relations experience. Behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment experience strongly preferred
• Proven experience growing referral relationships, supporting census goals, and meeting performance expectations
• Knowledge of behavioral health levels of care, including Detox, Residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient treatment
• Strong communication, relationship-building, sales, customer service, problem-solving, and service recovery skills
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, reliable transportation, and availability for local or regional travel, evenings, weekends, and community events as needed
